Then still a peninsula, Flone was known to have been covered in thick oak and pine forests. Lumber proved to be a valuable resource to the Somani, who had over the past generations become skilled in advanced woodworking. Different schools of carpentry trade was a defining factor in the establishment of numerous settlements, as tribal populations started naturally gathering around areas with skilled trade in hopes for an improved life.

Following the floods at the end of the Warm Age, settlements on Flone were pushed to work more closely with each other, as contact with the other Preludean lands was now restricted by open water. Sea trade became commonplace, providing the only form of connection between the newly formed West and [[East Preludes]]. Separation from Prelude would however cause hardship to the Somani, as their agriculture had relied on the trade of various fertilizers not available on Flone. Northern parts of the island began to be heavily affected by [[stillwinds]], turning the climate cold enough to become uninhabitable. In turn, the population numbers of settlements in the southern areas was held stable by migration from the north.
