Flohelme, officially known as the United Townships of Flone, is a union of settlements located on the largest island of the West Preludes. It consists of 8 towns, the biggest of which is Smule, also referred to unofficially as the capital due to hosting most of the union's governing bodies and its central location on the island. Each town is largely self-governing, with the union overseeing matters of the military, economic and diplomatic coöperation.
Flohelme, officially known as the United Townships of Flone, is a union of settlements located on Flone, the largest island of the West Preludes. The nation is characterized by its decentralized governance, where each township maintains significant autonomy, while a central council oversees matters related to the military, economy, and diplomacy. Its largest settlement, Smule, serves as the de facto capital, housing the central administration and acting as the cultural and economic hub.

Flohelme's economy is mainly backed by its mining and metalworking industries. With some Alathran metals being exclusive to Flone's mountain formations, Flohelme is an important source of raw material for various engineering and manufacturing fields. Fishing and shipbuilding also employ a big portion of the population.
Flohelme’s economy is primarily driven by its extensive mining and metalworking industries, benefiting from the island’s rich deposits of unique metals found in Flone’s mountainous regions. Other significant economic activities include fishing and shipbuilding, which have been vital to the nation’s survival and prosperity.

Tribal cultures
Pre-historic Flone was settled sometime during the Warm Age by Somani tribes, who slowly migrated northwest over the Preludean landmass. Then still a peninsula, Flone was known to have been covered in thick oak and pine forests. Lumber proved to be a valuable resource to the Somani, who had over the past generations become skilled in advanced woodworking. Different schools of carpentry trade was a defining factor in the establishment of numerous settlements, as tribal populations started naturally gathering around areas with skilled trade in hopes for an improved life.
The island of Flone was first settled during the Warm Age by Somani tribes migrating northwest over the Preludean landmass. At this time, Flone was still a peninsula covered in dense oak and pine forests. The Somani were highly skilled in woodworking, which became a defining cultural and economic feature of their settlements. Over time, various groups formed communities around skilled carpentry and resource-rich areas, giving rise to early forms of communal organization.

Following the floods at the end of the Warm Age, settlements on Flone were pushed to work more closely with each other, as contact with the other Preludean lands was now restricted by open water. Sea trade became commonplace, providing the only form of connection between the newly formed West and East Preludes. Such limitations to trade would however cause significant hardship to the Somani, as their agriculture had relied on the import of various fertilizers not available on Flone. In addition, northern parts of the island began to be heavily affected by stillwinds, turning the climate cold enough to become uninhabitable and forcing people to move southwards. The population numbers of settlements in the southern areas was for some time held stable by migration from the north, until they too started to suffer from a lack of basic amenities. By the end of the First Era, everything but a few fishing villages had fallen to ruin.
Following the catastrophic floods that marked the end of the Warm Age, Flone became an isolated island, severing its previous connections to the mainland. This new geographic reality forced settlements to collaborate more closely, leading to the emergence of maritime trade between the West and East Preludes. However, the loss of easy access to key agricultural imports such as fertilizers and farming equipment led to food shortages, and harsh climate shifts in the north, caused by the emergence of the infamous stillwinds, forced mass migrations to the south. This displacement upheld the populations of southern Flone for an extended period of time, replacing the diminishing workforce that was forced to move overseas to more prosperous islands. By the end of the Dawn Ages, only a few coastal fishing villages remained.

Dottish colonization
The aggressive stillwinds affecting Flone had made it undesirable for colonization in the eyes of foreign rulers. Multiple attempts by the emerging powers of the Second Era failed to establish a presence on the island, as no venture ever got provided enough capital to manage a sufficient supply flow to the island. The Dotlands were most interested in establishing a layover port between them and their then vassal domain of Keeks Islands. The standard ship route followed partly the southern coast of Flone, meaning the Dottish navy had some experience sailing through stillwind.
Despite its strategic location, Flone was largely ignored by emerging regional powers due to the challenges posed by the stillwinds and its limited resources. During the Second Era, the Dotlands had made multiple attempts to establish a layover port between their homeland and their then colony of Keeks Islands, all of them hampered by logistical difficulties. Initial attempts at colonization failed, resulting public disapproval due to cost mismanagement, but the discovery of rich metal deposits eventually led to a more determined effort by the Dottish Crown.
