For | ===What are ports ?===
Ports are your gateway to adventure and trade, connecting towns across continents. With just a small fee and a short wait, you can set sail to any port in the world.
No matter the distance, you can always reach your destination even if it's beyond your port's range. The port system will calculate the fastest route which may include stopping at some other ports along the way. This means you can travel anywhere without the hassle of planning multiple stops yourself.
====Port taxes==== | |||
Town mayors have the ability to set an additional tax on their port. By default, these taxes are set to their maximum value, but town mayors can adjust them as wanted via the port menu. Whenever a player travels to a port which has taxes, whether is the destination or just part of their journey, the town bank will collect a free.

<!--Ports are a great way to travel across the open ocean to other towns on other continents. For a small fee and a short wait a port can take you to any other port in the world. There are 4 different port sizes that can go different distances. The larger the port the further you can travel from it.
The 4 types of ports are jetty, dockyard, harbour, megaport with jetty being the smallest and traveling the shortest distance and megaport being the biggest and having the larger range covering half the world. Don’t worry though even if the port you want to go to is outside of the travel range of your port you can still get there. You will just have to have some layovers in some other ports along the way, but the port system will calculate the fastest path for you so you don’t have to worry about trying to find the shortest path.-->
===Port sizes=== | |||
Ports come in 4 sizes, each offering different travel ranges and costs. The larger the port the father and cheaper it can take you.
Jettys are the smallest of the ports and cover a small range of 1000 blocks. Town mayors can set a maxium port tax of 5%
Max Tax: 5% | |||
Speed: 150 | |||
Dockyard - 2000 | |||
Max Tax: 10% | |||
Speed: 180 | |||
Harbour - 4000 | |||
Max Tax: 15% | |||
Speed: 300 | |||
Megaport - 7000 | |||
Max Tax: 20% | |||
Speed: 480 | |||
===Port Requires=== | |||
Jettys must have at least 1 ship of any size.Docks must have at least 1 ship of medium size or larger. Harbors must have 3 ships, 1 of which must be medium size or larger, while the other 2 can be any size. Megaports must have 5 ships, 1 of which must be large size and 2 of which must be medium size or larger, the final 2 ships can be any size.
Ship sizes can be found at the dock at spawn.
But ships alone are not enough to create a port, you must have a built up town to support it. There are no hard set standards for what a town must look like to have a port but a lone small wooden cabin or a few dirt huts wouldn’t be enough to support a port. Additionally a port must always have the minimum amount of ships in it. This means if you have only built the minimum amount of ships for your port you can’t take them out cruising with movecraft. |
