Players can protect blocks and entities against other players. To lock an item players must craft an Iron Lock and when holding the item in the main hand the player can Shift
+ Left Click
on the item they want to lock. The recipe can be seen to the right.
A lockpick is a tool that is used to open blocks and entities are locked, lockpicks only work in unclaimed land or when the town is under siege during war.
Utility
Lockpicks can be used with Shift
+ Left Click
on locked objects, provided the tool is equipped in the main hand. Only one object can be attempted to lockpick at once. A successful lockpick is an event with a probability of 20%, with a decreased, 10% probability for iron doors. If the lockpicking is successful, the lockpick gets returned to the user and the object switches to an open state.
In addition to doors, trapdoors and containers, lockpicks have been shown to work with certain gates, specifically ones made from iron bars.
