What are ports ?

Ports are your gateway to adventure and trade, connecting towns across continents. With just a small fee and a short wait, you can set sail to any port in the world.

No matter the distance, you can always reach your destination even if it's beyond your port's range. The port system will calculate the fastest route which may include stopping at some other ports along the way. This means you can travel anywhere without the hassle of planning multiple stops yourself.

Port taxes

Town mayors have the ability to set an additional tax on their port. By default, these taxes are set to their maximum value, but town mayors can adjust them as wanted via the port menu. Whenever a player travels to a port which has taxes, whether is the destination or just part of their journey, the town bank will collect a free.

Port sizes

Ports come in 4 sizes, each offering different travel ranges and costs. The larger the port the father and cheaper it can take you.

Jettys are the smallest of the ports and cover a small range of 1000 blocks. Town mayors can set a maxium port tax of 5% Max Tax: 5% Speed: 150

Dockyard - 2000 Max Tax: 10% Speed: 180

Harbour - 4000 Max Tax: 15% Speed: 300

Megaport - 7000 Max Tax: 20% Speed: 480

Port blockades

Ports can be blockaded, preventing anyone from using them to enter or leave the town. A blockade completely disconnects the port from the global network, making travel to and from the town impossible until it is lifted. A blockaded ports will display as skeleton skull in the port menu.

When do port blockades happen ?

Port blockades occur only when a town is under siege during a war, forcing travelers to seek alternative routes or delay their journey until the conflict is resolved.

Port requirements

A port must have a minimum number of ships docked at all times. A port is more than just a collection of ships, it requires a built-up town to support it. While there are no strict architectural requirments, a small wooden cabin or a few dirt huts will not qualify. Towns must have enough infrastructure to justify maintaining a functional port.

Port Type Minimum Ships Required
Jetty 1 ship - any size
Dockyard 1 ship - medium or larger
Harbour 3 ships - at least 1 medium or larger, the other 2 can be any size
Megaport 5 ships - at least 1 large, 2 medium or larger, and 2 of any size
