Parent Race: Elf

Note: The Moon Elves are considered an ancient race. While their descendants, the Wood Elves, still carry fragments of their legacy, Moon Elves should not be used as a playable race by new characters.

The Moon Elves, or Elva’rai, were a semi-nomadic elven culture that emerged during the early divergence of the First Elves (L’nai). While the Sun Elves (Aure'lai) turned to solar mastery and imperialism, and the Star Elves (Sira’nai) to celestial observation, the Moon Elves withdrew into the forested peripheries, aligning their lives with the lunar cycle, natural rhythms, and dreamlike intuition.

They were never a civilization in the strictest sense. The Elva’rai built no grand cities, left behind few formal archives, and developed no central governance. Instead, their cultural cohesion rested in ritual, oral memory, and a sustained relationship with nature—particularly forests, shadows, and the moon.

Though often overshadowed by their more dominant kin, the Elva’rai held influence in early elven spiritual traditions and are widely credited with preserving ancient healing practices long after other lineages formalized or fractured.

The Elva’rai no longer exist as a distinct culture. Over generations, their descendants gradually adapted to the deep forests and, in time, became the Silva’rai, or Wood Elves. While some Silva’rai clans still preserve Elva’rai rites and stories, the original culture is considered dissolved, not destroyed.

The Sun Elves (Aure'lai), were an ancient elven race originating from the legendary continent of Aurel. Known for their mastery of solar magic, monumental architecture, and celestial philosophy, Sun Elves were once considered the pinnacle of elven civilization. Their culture emphasized structure, harmony, and intellectual refinement, and played a central role in shaping ancient magical traditions across Alathra.

Sun Elves were characterized by their luminous appearance and formal demeanor. Their society revolved around law, education, and cosmological order, and its members often occupied roles as architects, scholars, magi, and ritualists. Though long vanished, their influence endures in the architecture of surviving elven cities, in arcane rites, and in the calendar systems still used by various cultures.

The fall of Aurel marked the end of the Sun Elves' dominion. Their descendants became the ancestors of the Ash Elves, who preserved elements of Aurelian tradition in the volcanic lands of Verokuna.
