Steel ingot

Steelmaking is the process of producing steel from iron and coal. Steel is an essential metal that is required to progress to more advanced armor and equipment. Diamond-tier equipment uses steel variants as its base.

Producing steel requires a higher temperature environment than regular coal can provide. Players need to heat coal to obtain coal coke, which can supply enough heat to melt a carbon-rich variant of iron called pig iron, which needs to be crafted separately using iron ingots. Coal coke also functions as fuel like usual, providing a 50% longer burn time.

Pig iron then needs to be prepared, along with covering it with coal coke, producing a coal-coke covered iron ingot, which can be smelted using any fuel type. Steel takes a long time to form, but as with other metals, blast furnaces provide a significant reduction in wait times.
