The House of Leverette, also known as the Leverette Dynasty, is the reigning house of Leporidia. The house was founded in the late Leporid Migration period as the House of Sudille, as one of many houses vying for control during the états en guerre period of Leporid history.
In modern Leporid historiography, the "founding" member of the Leverette Dynasty is Clovia I, the first Queen of the Leporids, though geneologically the house far predates Clovia.
Etymology
The end of the états en guerre period saw the clash between the house of Sudille and the house of Baillieu and their monarchs, Clovia de Sudille and Hildegarde de Baillieu. According to legend, Hildegarde would refer to her rival as "Lièvrette perfide" (Common: "Perfidious little hare").
Upon Hildegarde's eventual death, having been slain in battle by Clovia herself, Clovia would adopt "Leverette" as an epithet, an ironic trophy to mark a new age for her people. She declared the epithet to be handed down to her children as a trophy for the house. Historians often refer to the historical kingdom of Sudille as the kingdom of Leverette.
