The Duchy of Roswell consists of the Town of Roswell and the small dwarven colony close by, Barazdûm.
The town itself consists mostly of humans with a considerable amount of permanent dwarven residents. The primary export of the town is roses. Rose fields dot the outskirts of the town and every rose farming family has their own lineage of rose breeds. Yearly competitions and festivals are held where rival families try to... out-rose eachother. Rose wine (not to be confused with rosé, which isn't actually made from roses) is also a specialty in the town.
Barazdûm is a colony of surface dwarves, long seperated from their hold. They have since coexisted with the humans of Roswell. Their specialty is, stereotypical of dwarves, anything industrial. They are the Duchy's blacksmiths, masons, builders, redstone engineers. Curiously, the oldest of their elders, the only one old enough to recall the fall of their underground hold, speaks of eldritch horrors buried deep beneath the ground that caused its demise...
Thorn Knights are the defenders of the Duchy. Hand-selected by the Duke from the petty nobility, they go through vigorous training from a young age. The recent developments in gunpowder weaponry, however, had some questioning how much longer these knights can stay relevant in the battlefield. The Duke's son, Lothran aims to address this issue and has developed the gunlance, essentially a flintlock-lance hybrid. His loyal gunknights have quickly adopted the new weapon, but the Thorn Knights' old guard is resistant to the developments.
